「最高の夫でした」コービーの妻が、追悼式で涙のスピーチ

1月26日（現地時間）に、ヘリコプター墜落事故で亡くなった元NBA選手のコービー・ブライアント（41歳）と彼の娘で次女のジアナ（13歳）の追悼式が、2月24日（現地時間）、米ロサンゼルスのステイプルズ・センターで開催。2万人ものファンや多くのセレブたちが参列し、彼らの早すぎる死を悼んだ。

コービーが引退するまで20年間プレーし続けた、ロサンゼルス・レイカーズの本拠地ステイプルズ・センターで開催された追悼式「A Celebration of Life Kobe & Gianna Bryant」。会場では、コービーがつけていた背番号のユニフォームを着て参列するファンや、生前親交があったジェニファー・ロペスやマイケル・ジョーダンら多くのセレブの姿が見られた。

追悼式のオープニングでは、歌手のビヨンセ（38歳）がパフォーマンスを披露。コービーがお気に入りだったという楽曲「XO」と、「Halo（ヘイロー）」を歌い上げた。

その後、歌手のアリシア・キーズ（39歳）がレーカーズのチームカラーの一つである紫の衣装に身を包み、ベートーヴェン作曲の『幻想曲風ソナタ』を演奏。この曲は、コービーが妻ヴァネッサのために独学でピアノを練習し、習得したという夫婦にとって想い出の曲なんだそう。

また、歌手のクリスティーナ・アギレラ（39歳）はシューベルトの『アヴェ・マリア』を熱唱。バスケット界のレジェンド、マイケル・ジョーダン（57歳）は「彼が死んだと聞いたとき、私の一部も死んでしまった。弟よ、安らかに眠れ」と大粒の涙を流しながら、追悼のスピーチを披露した。

最愛の夫と娘を同時に失ってしまった妻のヴァネッサは、悲しみを堪えながら溢れる思いを語った。

「ジアナ・ブライアントは、驚くほどスウィートで優しい魂の持ち主です。彼女は、いつも思いやりがありました。彼女はパパっ子だったけど、私を愛してくれていたことも知っています。彼女は、私の親友の一人でした」

「私たちは、もうジアナがナタリア（コービーの長女）と一緒に学校へ行くところを、見ることが出来ません。彼女に車の運転を教える機会もなくなってしまいました。結婚式の日には、どんなに彼女が美しいのか伝えることもできず、バージンロードを歩く姿も見ることができません…。父親とダンスしたり、彼女のかわいい赤ちゃんも見ることも」

「彼（コービー）は、最高の夫でした。言葉に表せないほど、彼は私を愛してくれていました。彼以上に私を愛し、必要としてくれる男性はいません」

My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time. Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri. We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately. There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now. また、ヴァネッサは最後にコービーとジアナについて次のように語った。

「二人は、お互いに愛し合っていて、誰もが彼らに、自然と引き寄せられていました。彼らは面白くてハッピーで、いつもふざけていて、人生をとても楽しんでいて、喜びと冒険心で満ち溢れていました」

「神様は、彼らがお互いの存在なしでは、この世に存在できないことを知っていたのです。彼らを一緒に、天国へ導かなければいけなかったのでしょう。コービー、ジアナをよろしくね。私たちは今でもずっとベストチームよ」

多くの人に愛されたコービー・ブライアントと、彼の愛する娘ジアナ。彼らの生きた証は、きっと永遠に人々の心に刻まれているはず。
