世の中に必要なのは魔女⁉アンジーが語る「強い女性像」

3人の養子と元夫ブラット・ピットとの間にもうけた3人の子ども、計6人の母親であるアンジェリーナ・ジョリー（44歳）。先日、長男マドックスが韓国の大学へ進学することが報じられ、「とても誇りに思う」「今後が楽しみ」とコメントしたアンジーが、今度はアメリカ版『ELLE』のインタビューで娘たちへの教訓、また強い女性像について語った。

国連難民高等弁務官事務所（UNHCR）の親善大使として人道支援活動に取り組んだり、女性の権利を主張するフェミニストとしても有名なアンジー。そんな彼女は、娘たちに外見だけでなく、内面も磨くようにと教えているそう。

「私は娘たちに、一番大切なことは自分自身の心を育てることだと言っています。 可愛い洋服はいつでも着られるけど、あなたの心が強くないと何を着ても一緒だと。自立した意志を持ち、自分の意見をしっかりと持つ女性ほど、魅力的で魅惑的と言える存在はいないですからね」

また、『マレフィセント』や『トゥームレイダー』など、数々の映画で強い女性を演じてきたアンジーは、その他にも今の世界に必要なのは"魔女のような邪悪な女性"だとも語った。

「”魔女のような邪悪な女性”とは、世の中の不平等や虐待などにうんざりした女性のこと。自分のために、また家族のために信用できないルールや規範に従わない女性。命の危険や逮捕の可能性、家族や地域社会から拒絶されることを恐れず、自分の意見や権利を主張することをあきらめない女性。それを"邪悪な女性"と呼ぶのならば、世の中はもっと"邪悪な女性"を必要としていると思います」

そんな「強い女性像」について語ったアンジーだけど、「毎日戦いたいと思って起きる女性は少ないのも事実」とも言う。

「私たちに魔法の力はありません。私たちが持っているのはお互いを支え合い、女性を平等に評価し尊重する立派な男性と働く能力です」

そして、自身の息子たちについては「私が教えたのではなく、彼らは姉妹たちをリスペクトし、また姉妹たちも同じく彼らを敬うことができている」と子どもたちを称賛。

女性として生きていく中で、必要な「心の在り方」について語ったアンジー。彼女らしい力強いメッセージは、多くの女性の共感を呼びそうですね。
